Andrea Freites is a PhD candidate in Political Science (International Relations and Research Methods) at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a doctoral researcher at the Millennium Nucleus on the Impacts of China in Latin America and the Caribbean (ICLAC). She holds a M.A. in Political Science, a M.A. in International Studies (Highest Distinction), a Master's in Values and Citizenship Education, and a B.A. in Education.

Her research focuses on China–Latin America relations, environmental governance, green transition, extractive industries, and regulatory compliance.

She also serves as editorial assistant for the Revista de Ciencia Política at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, supporting manuscript management, peer-review coordination, and the journal's editorial process.
